Introduction

TEDU, Inc ("TEDU", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through its compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide to TEDU, how it is collected, used, maintained, protected, and shared, and your choices regarding such information.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Services (defined below.) By accessing or using the Services, you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy below.) Your continued use of the Services after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check this policy periodically for updates.

Data Collection and Uses

This policy applies to users of TEDU's services anywhere in the world, including users of TEDU's applications, websites, features, platforms, or other services (collectively, the "Services.") This policy describes how TEDU collects and uses personal information to provide its Services. This policy also applies to those who provide information to TEDU in connection with an application to use our Services (e.g., someone completing a user account without any further action,) or whose information TEDU otherwise receives in connection with its Services (such as Participating Universities providing student body information.) All those subject to this policy are referred to as "users" for purposes of this policy.


As used in this policy, a "Participating University" is a college or university that has entered into an agreement with TEDU to allow students at the Participating University to provide or obtain academic support utilizing the Services.


This policy does not apply to information collected by:

  • us offline or through means other than the Services; or
  • any third party (including such third party's affiliates and subsidiaries), including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from or on the Services.

The practices described in this policy are subject to applicable laws in the places in which we operate. This means that we only engage in the practices described in this policy in a particular jurisdiction if permitted under the laws of such jurisdiction. Please contact us if you have questions about our practices in your jurisdiction.

Information We Collect

TEDU collects (i) information that you provide to TEDU, such as when you create a user account, (ii) information created when you use the Services, such as location, usage, and device information, and (iii) information from other sources, such as Participating Universities and other third parties that may use TEDU's application programming interface (API). The following information is collected by or on behalf of TEDU:

1.Information you provide, which may include:

  • Personal user services account: We collect information when you create or update your user account. This may include your name, email, phone number, password, address, academic history, birth date, and photo. This also includes the preferences and settings that you enable for your user account.
  • Demographic data: We may collect demographic information about you, including through user surveys.
  • User content: We may collect information that you submit when you contact TEDU's customer support, provide ratings or compliments for other users, or otherwise contact TEDU (whether by text, email, via TEDU's websites, applications, or otherwise,) including records and copies of such correspondence. We may also collect information that you submit via the Services, including communications regarding support services requested or specific academic content or other information that may assist Participating Universities or TEDU in improving course curriculums and overall academic performance.
  • User Contributions: You also may provide information to be published or displayed (hereinafter, "posted") in public areas of the Services or transmitted to other users of the Services or third parties (collectively, "User Contributions"). Your User Contributions are posted on and transmitted to others at your own risk. Although you may set certain privacy settings for such information by logging into your user account, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Additionally, we cannot control the actions of other users of the Services with whom you may choose to share your User Contributions. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that your User Contributions will not be viewed by unauthorized persons.
  • Other information you may provide: We may also collect information that you provide by filling in forms on our Services. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our Services, subscribing to our Services, posting material, or requesting further Services. We may also ask you for information when you enter a contest or promotion sponsored by us.

2. Information created when you use our Services, which may include:

  • Usage Information: We collect information about how you interact with our Services. This includes information such as traffic data, location data, logs, other communication data, resources that you access and use, access dates and times, app features or pages viewed, search queries, internet connection, app crashes, and other system activity, type of browser, and third-party sites or service you were using before interacting with our Services. In some cases, we collect this information through cookies, including Flash cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and similar technologies that create and maintain unique identifiers.
  • Device Information: We may collect information about the devices you use to access our Services, including the hardware models, real-time location information, device IP address, operating systems, and versions, software, file names and versions, preferred languages, unique device identifiers, advertising identifiers, serial numbers, device motion information, and mobile network information, including device telephone number.
  • Communications Data: We enable users to communicate with each other and TEDU through TEDU apps, websites, platforms, or other avenues. To provide this service, TEDU receives some information regarding the messaging, including the date and time of the messages, and the content of the communications. TEDU may also use this information for customer support services (including to resolve disputes between users), for safety and security purposes, to improve our products and services, and for analytics.

Information from other sources, which may include:

  • User feedback, such as ratings or compliments;
  • Users providing your information in connection with referral programs;
  • Participating Universities;
  • TEDU business partners through which you create or access your user account, such as apps or websites that use TEDU's APIs or whose API TEDU uses;
  • And publicly available sources.

How We Collect Your Information

TEDU collects your information:

  • Automatically when you access or use our Services;
  • And from third parties, for example, from our business partners and Participating Universities.

Children under the Age of 13

Our Services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under the age of 13 may provide any information to or on our websites, applications, or other Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on our websites, applications, or other Services or on or through any of their features. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. Third-Party Use of Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

Some content or applications on our Services are served by third-parties, including servers, content providers, and application providers. These third parties may use cookies alone or in conjunction with web beacons or other tracking technologies to collect information about you when you use our Services. The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities over time and across different websites and other online services. We do not control these third parties' tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have any questions, you should contact the responsible provider directly.

How We Use Your Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information:
  • To present our services and their contents to you;
  • To provide you with notices about your user account, including expiration and renewal notices;
  • To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it;
  • To provide you with notices about your user account, including expiration and renewal notices;
  • To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collection;
  • To notify you about changes to our Services or any products or services we offer or provide through it;
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features through our Services;
  • In any other way we may describe when you provide the information;
  • To enhance the safety and security of our users and Services;
  • For customer support;
  • To enable communications to or between users;
  • To enable communications from TEDU to you;

The information we collect automatically is statistical data and may include personal information, but we may maintain it or associate it with personal information we collect in other ways or receive from third parties. It helps us to improve our Services and to deliver better and more personalized Services to users, including by enabling us to:

  • Estimate our audience size and usage patterns;
  • Store information about user preferences, allowing us to customize our Services according to individual interests;
  • Speed up user searches;
  • Or recognize a user when he or she accesses or uses our Services.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual user, without restriction. We may also disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this privacy policy:

  • At Your Request or With Your Consent: For example, we may share your current location or desired tutoring location with other Students participating in a Group Session. Also, if you requested a Service through a partnership or promotional offering made by a third party, such as a Participating University, TEDU may share your information with those third parties.
  • To Other Users: For example, if you are a Student, we may share your first name, photograph, contact information, and current location or desired tutoring location with Tutors. If you are a Tutor, we may share information with your Student including your name and photo, rating provided by Students, contact information, and hours tutored.
  • With the General Public When You Submit Content to a Public Forum. We love hearing from our users -- including through public forums such as blogs, social media, and certain features on our Services. When you communicate with us through those channels, your communications may be viewable by the public.
  • To Our Subsidiaries and Affiliates: We share information with our subsidiaries and affiliates to help us provide our Services or conduct data processing on our behalf.
  • To Contractors, Service Providers, Partners, and Other Third Parties: We share information with contractors, service providers, partners, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
  • To a Buyer or Other Successor: We may also share information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, divestiture, consolidation or restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our company's assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding.
  • To Fulfill the Purpose for Which You Provide It: For example, if you provide us an email address to use the "invite to a session" feature of our Services, we will transmit the contents of that invitation and the email address to the recipients.
  • For Any Other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.

    We may also disclose your personal information:
  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process: including to respond to any government or regulatory request. If you use another person's credit card, we may be required by law to share information with that credit card holder, including tutoring services information;
  • To enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements: including for billing and collection purposes;
  • And if we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate:to protect the rights, property, or safety of our company, our users, or others, or in the event of a claim or dispute relating to your use of our Services. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

  • Tracking Technologies. You can set your browser (whether on a mobile or desktop device) to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when browser cookies are being sent. You can also disable or refuse all or some application cookies in a TEDU application through the privacy setting menu in such TEDU applications. To learn how you can manage your Flash cookie settings, visit the Flash player settings page on Adobe's website. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of TEDU websites and applications may then be inaccessible or not function properly.
  • Notifications: Account and Services Updates. TEDU provides users with notifications and updates related to their user account and upcoming and past Services received or provided on its applications. These notifications are necessary for using the TEDU applications and cannot be disabled. However, you may choose the method by which you receive these notifications through your device's notification settings.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You may send us an email at privacy@tedu.app to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We cannot guarantee the deletion of your personal information except by also deleting your user account. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect. If you delete your User Contributions from the Services, copies of your User Contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or might have been copied or stored by other users of our Services.

Explanations and Copies

You may request that TEDU:

  • Provide a detailed explanation regarding the information TEDU has collected about you and how it uses that information.
  • Receive a copy of the information TEDU has collected about you.

Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers behind firewalls. Any payment transactions and personal information will be encrypted using SSL technology.

The safety and security of your information also depend on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Services, you are responsible for keeping such password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Services like message boards. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by any user of the Services.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted via our Services. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained in our Services.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' personal information, we will notify you by email to the primary email address specified in your user account or through a notice on our website's homepages and an in-application alert the first time you use one of our applications after we make the change. To the extent permitted under applicable law, by using our Services after such notice, you consent to our updated policy.

The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the privacy policy. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date active and deliverable email address for you, and for periodically visiting our privacy policy to check for any changes.
